This is a selection of four Roman coins found in Chichester, belonging to the 1st century AD. Coins would have been used for buying goods in the town.

Samian Goblet
This is a fine pottery drinking cup made of black samian ware, found in Chichester. It was made in central Gaul (France) in the 2nd century AD, and then transported to Britain where it was sold.

Onyx intaglio
This is a gemstone (intaglio), originally contained within a finger ring. Either the ring or raw material was imported from abroad.
