Westhampnett (A 27 Bypass)

An extensive late Iron Age cremation cemetery (c.70 - 40 BC), consisting of 161 graves, 11 pyre sites, 27 'pyre-related features' and five enclosures, one of which contained another burial. All of these features surrounded an open central circular space, which may have been used for ritual ceremonies. The site was re-used for additional burials in the Romano-British and Anglo-Saxon period.
