Lancing Down

A Romano-Celtic temple (c.12.5 m sq.) within an oval temenos, located on a chalk ridge overlooking the English Channel to the south and Adur valley to the east. It was preceded by a smaller concentric structure lying to the east, which may have been a late Iron Age shrine. Alternatively, this could have been a funerary platform associated with a number of cremation burials found around the temple.
