Chichester was the only town in the civitas of the Regni, yet because it has had relatively little development since the 18th century, most of it has not yet been examined. Nevertheless, enough excavation has been carried out to have an idea of its form and development, as well as some notion as to the activities being carried out there during the 1st to 4th centuries AD.
