| Museum recently re-opened
after major refurbishment thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant. The new displays include prehistoric and Roman archaeology, 19th-20th century social and economic history, maritime history and photography, and there is also a very active programme of temporary exhibitions. The archaeology displays concentrate on rural life. They feature items shown on this website (and much more) together with models of an Iron Age grain storage pit, a Roman agricultural site and the excavation of Angmering Roman villa in the 1930s. There is a large reserve collection of local archaeological finds, and an artefact loan service for schools in West Sussex that includes six Roman packs. |
